INEC Partners NGO for Casualty Free Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission has decided to partner with an organisation, Flying Doctors Nigeria, an initiative established by a British trained medical doctor, Ola Orekunrin, to provide emergency and comprehensive healthcare services in hot zones across the country during the forthcoming April elections.
The partnership, the first of its kind in the history of the country’s electoral process, is meant to guarantee the standard air ambulance cover during the elections.
FDN doctors and paramedics, trained to international standards will provide rapid response service to even the most complicated medical transport requests.
According to Orekunrin, patients will be airlifted within 30 minutes of injury and transferred to hospitals for treatment.
The initiative is supported by the East Anglican Air Ambulance, United Kingdom.
